Tacit · The AI Apprentice
The expert retires.
The know-how stays.
Tacit watches an expert do the job, asks why at the right moment, and teaches the next person with the expert's own reasons.
For macOS, Windows and Linux.
The problem
Decades of judgment, gone with a farewell party.
“Equipment over five thousand euros is always capex. And without an asset number I never book capex.”
Sabine, accounts payable for 24 years. Retires in 18 months.
- The screen shows what, never why.A recording shows a cost center change. It doesn't say where the line is, who decides, or what would change the answer.
- Handover documents go stale.Nobody writes down the exceptions, and the exceptions are the job.
- Shadowing doesn't scale. The expert has limited time, and the new hire meets the hard case months after the expert has left.
How it works
Capture, map, teach.
The expert does their normal work. Tacit does the rest, in three steps.
-
01
Capture
The expert shares their screen and works. Tacit turns what happens on screen into events and asks a short question at a natural pause.
-
02
Map
A spoken debrief fills the gaps, then Tacit explains it all back until the expert says yes. The result is a clickable Work Map.
-
03
Teach
A tutor watches a new hire work a case the expert never showed, and steps in before a wrong decision is saved.
Features
What you get.
Everything below is in the app today. Two features marked Preview run on the server and don't have a screen in the app yet.
It learns while the expert works
No interviews to schedule, no documents to write.
-
Live questions at natural pauses
It stays quiet while the expert types, reads or talks, and asks only after an action. Questions name what is on screen and ask why, never what. At least three, one about a rule.
-
Debrief and teach-back
Afterwards it asks about what it didn't learn, then explains the whole process back. Corrections are recorded, and only the expert's yes saves the map.
A map you can check
Grounded in real screen moments and the expert's own words.
-
Clickable Work Map
Each step has its screen moment, a short clip, the decision, the reason in the expert's words and its guardrails. Quotes are checked against the transcript, and anything without proof is marked Unlinked.
-
Compare two experts, ask each why
See where two sessions of the same task differ. Keep a question for an expert, and their next session asks it first.
It teaches the next person
In the expert's reasons, in the new hire's language.
-
A tutor that steps in before a wrong save
In the built-in practice ERP, the tutor holds the confirm button until the mistake is fixed, replays the expert's moment and asks the new hire to predict the next decision. The report shows what they mastered and what to practice next.
-
72 languages
The expert explains in their language, or picks Auto-detect. The map keeps every quote as said, with an English translation beside it. The tutor teaches in the new hire's language.
Ready for agents, people first
Routine steps can go to an agent. Judgment calls stay with people.
-
Agent-ready export
Download a Work Map as instructions an AI agent can load: the same steps and the same stop points the expert set.
-
Autopilot that hands judgment calls to people
In the practice ERP, an autopilot posts the routine invoices against a confirmed Work Map and puts every judgment call in a For you list, with the rule that stopped it.
-
Living Work Map updates Preview
Record a task again and the debrief asks only about what changed. The update is kept and can be applied to the original map through the server. A review screen is coming.
-
Coverage check Preview
Tells whether any confirmed Work Map already covers what is on screen, and suggests one question when none does. Available on the server today; the in-app inbox is coming.
Privacy and trust
Built to be trusted with real work.
Experts share their screen and their voice. Tacit treats both with care, and fails closed when it can't.
Privacy shield
Before a frame leaves your computer, on-device text recognition paints over emails, IBANs, card and phone numbers and labelled fields like Contact or Name. No shield, no screen sharing.
Off the record
Press O and nothing is seen, heard, transcribed or recorded until you come back.
Redaction on the server
Transcripts, events and quotes are redacted for emails, IBANs, cards and phone numbers. Names are redacted too: the hosted backend has name detection on by default.
Out of the picture
The Tacit pill hides itself from the screen capture, so it never ends up in a recording.
Yours to delete
Delete any Work Map and its videos at any time. Sessions nobody confirmed are marked for deletion after 30 days.
No keys on your computer
The app holds no API keys. It talks to your team's Tacit server over HTTPS, with an access key from your admin.
Getting started
Installed in two minutes.
No account and no setup: the app connects to our hosted server by itself. Rather not install anything? Try the Ledgerline voice workspace or Perfect demo in your browser.
-
Download
Get the file for your computer from the download section below.
-
Allow it once
Our builds aren't signed with an Apple or Microsoft certificate yet, so your computer asks once whether you trust Tacit. That's expected. The steps for your computer are below.
-
Open and go
Tacit connects on its own. The server is on a free plan and may take up to a minute to wake. If you see Connect to Tacit, everything is filled in: click Connect and wait a moment.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
My computer says the app can't be opened. What do I do?
The installers aren't signed with a certificate yet, so your computer asks you to confirm once.
- macOS: open Tacit once and click Done when macOS says it couldn't verify it. Then go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security and click Open Anyway next to Tacit. Open it again and click Open. (Or in Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Tacit.app.) - Windows: if SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway.
- Linux: make the AppImage executable with
chmod +x Tacit-linux-x86_64.AppImage, or tick "Allow executing file as program" in its properties, then open it.
Do I need an access key?
Usually not: Tacit connects to your team's server by itself. If it ever asks, use the access key from the message you got with the app, and keep it to yourself like a password.
What does Tacit need on my computer?
A microphone and permission to share your screen. Tacit asks for both the first time you start a session. You also need an internet connection to reach your team's server.
Can I try it without touching real systems?
Yes. Tacit comes with a practice ERP called Ledgerly, with fake supplier invoices and hidden judgment calls. Open it from the Studio window with Open the practice ERP.
Does it record everything I do?
Only while a session runs, and only the shielded copy of your screen leaves your computer. Press O to go off the record at any moment. You can delete any Work Map and its videos.
Can the tutor stop mistakes in our own ERP?
Not yet. The tutor watches any screen and explains, but locking the confirm button before a wrong save works in the built-in practice ERP, opened in the same app.
Which languages does it speak?
72 languages, or Auto-detect. The expert and the new hire can each use their own.
How do I update?
Download the latest version from this page and install it over the old one. Your Work Maps live on your team's server, so nothing is lost.
Every retiring expert becomes a Work Map and a tutor.
Not a farewell party.
